Many believe anything denim besides denim trousers are all old school. Well, welcome to the new school trend, because denim is back this season. We’ve been seeing celebrities such as Rihanna, Kim Kadarshian, fashion bloggers and fashion lovers rock this trend and it’s definitely been inspiring- stylewise.
I specifically love the denim shirt worn with skirts. Style icon Shala Monroque rocked the denim+skirt style and inspired other fashionistas to do the same, especially during fashion week 2011.
I’m sure many of us have at least a denim shirt or jacket quietly lying somewhere in our closets. Now, it’s time to dust and rock that denim shirt…don’t be left out 😀 . I picked out three looks; basically showing different ways to rock a denim shirt with a skirt. From pencil skirts, skater skirts, peplum, sequin and bold colored flare skirts…they can all be stylishly rocked with a denim shirt during spring, summer and even winter seasons.
Look 1 is inspired by style icon- Shala Monroque. Photographers just love Shala because of her unique style and how she’s able to mix bold colors and prints to portray her personality. She rocked a chambary shirt and mustard skirt during Fashion Week 2011.
In this case, you can rock a denim shirt with both a flare bold colored skirt and also a pencil skirt. It could be a pencil office-like skirt or mixed with florals, prints, lace or any other style you feel portrays your personality; just make sure it’s done right. When pairing a denim shirt with bright and bold colors, try to keep accessories on the low or neutral. For example, you can pair them with nude sandals or pumps or an animal print shoe.
Thinking of that fun and flirty look?, then go for a short skater skirt or flare skirt. You can add a little fun by wearing a polka dot, floral or sequin flare skirt which can also work for a day/night look…let’s say movies or hangout with friends.
Oh la la! I know you weren’t expecting this. I’ll have to say it takes courage or rather an inner fashion eye to rock this look. I absolutely love the way the stylish Folake of Style Pantry rocked the denim with a minty crinoline skirt. I mean, I want the skirt in different colors already!!!
With this kind of look, I advice you to keep accesories low too. That black shoe and gold acceossories will work. The skirt already makes all sorts of noise from the color to the spikey flares going on. I will definitely rock this look 100 times 😀
FASHIONABLE LAIZALOUNGE READERS:
Miss Evie rocking a denim and mint skirt. She paired her look with a chunky necklace and nude shoes. Keeping it simple, yet fun. I absolutely love this look. Keep that fashion movement going 🙂
Miss Chisom AKA my twinny (birthday mates). I love the way she paired the denim with a black skirt and lace tights. Those braids…love it! I also love how she added the animal skin clutch to her look.
I absolutely love the way KimK rocked this look. And off course it brought out her shape and makes you love her style even more. This is a clear example that leather skirts will definitely work with this look.
